About Kakigori Photography
Lucy is an award-winning photographer based in Hertfordshire. She specialises in architectural photography, and has further experience in landscape, commercial, portrait and event.
Professional Experience
Lucy’s work is on display in airports around the UK and Northern Ireland, embassies in the UK, and international British embassies as part of the UK government's GREAT Campaign.
Lucy has won prizes in the WPE International Awards. She was a British Photography Awards Finalist in 2023 and 2024, and her images have been used in Winchester Cathedral’s Step Inside to a Place of Wonder marketing campaign.
Lucy has worked with local and national charities and organisations on photography projects. She has also designed marketing materials, social media assets and produced press releases to help launch the projects.
Equipment
Lucy captures images almost exclusively on mobile phones, yet the quality is comparable to a digital camera, having been blown up to fit entire walls in Heathrow Airport. Her current device is the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
What is Kakigōri Photography?
Kakigōri (かき氷) is a Japanese shaved ice dessert. It was Lucy's favourite while she lived and worked in Wakayama city in 2010. She signed up for Instagram with this pseudonym in 2017 and it has been with her since. As much of her work and recognition has come through Instagram, Lucy has kept the account name to help other professionals recognise her.
